ByrneLooby devised the structural concept in conjunction with the Client and developed the structural drawings and design through to completion.
This extraordinary design was awarded as the winner of the RIBA Stephen Lawrence Prize, 2017.
The House Boat
Lake Drive is a new house located on a site overlooking Poole Harbour. Conceived as two upturned hulls propping themselves together facing the sea, it has been built with an in-situ concrete base and a Douglas Fir timber frame constructed shell. A staggered arrangement with a half-basement configuration enables an open staircase which creates a house made up of interconnected volumes rather than rooms.
