The Hatta Border Project consists of the expansion of Dubai Customs facilities in Hatta. This project, once finalized, is where the Dubai Duty Free Zone will be located. The purpose of the new border post is part of the Dubai Government's vision to improve services for travellers and to develop infrastructure to facilitate entry to and exit from the United Arab Emirate.
ByrneLooby was appointed to undertake the detailed geotechnical design of the earthworks required as part of the construction works. This involved analyses of slopes of up to 75m in height in rock and soil. ByrneLooby also undertook site inspections while the construction works were on-going.
