Value-Focused Infrastructure Partners
Roads, motorways and bridges help transport people to work, move goods to markets, and facilitate the dynamics of everyday life. Our team of engineers and project managers assist with the design and planning of road and rail schemes, bridges and tunnels and other linear development projects.
Whether acting in an advisory role or completing detailed designs, we provide value-engineered, buildable infrastructure solutions delivered to the highest technical standards. Our design teams also provide geotechnical and structural solutions for both new and aged assets to ensure sustainability and robustness into the future.
Appointed by the Royal Commission in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, our brief was to design two new bridges at Dareen and Batinah to connect offshore amenities. Our team collaborated across multiple disciplines and phases from the initial concept studies to the detailed design, providing architectural and engineering design, structural, geotechnical and marine and coastal expertise. Our multi-disciplinary experts provided a range of consulting advisory services and design services, including bridge structures, causeways, embankments, shoreline protection, roads, deep foundations, subgrade improvements, design vessels and collision loading. We also supervised the ground investigation works. The completed bridges are 350 metres in length, of modern design and with an iconic colour illumination system; they connect to existing causeways and provide new navigation routes for vessels. The bridges were designed around a principle of ‘balanced aesthetics”, combining striking design that blends seamlessly with maritime surroundings and delivers constructability and cost-efficiency.
Roads, Highways and Motorways
Our road and motorway engineering ranges from strategic assessments and analyses to detailed construction and as-built documentation for road projects across Ireland, the UK, the Middle East and Europe. We can also develop temporary and permanent works solutions and provide advice on construction methodologies.
Our extensive geotechnical temporary works consulting on the M7 motorway in Ireland included a 14km-long third lane, the relocation of existing ramps, a new interchange at Osberstown, 1.7km of new dual carriageway and five bridges.
On the Newhaven Port Access Road in Essex, UK, we provide significant value by recommending a change from traditional rotary piling to CFA, reducing cost and programme for the client, by approximately £1m.
