Coastal Modelling

CONTACT US
Effective and Efficient Coastal Modelling Solutions

Our coastal engineers use high-tech models and monitoring devices to understand the forces affecting coastal environments, including sea-level rise, tides, erosion, waves, climate change and storms surge.  This understanding provides the basis for their innovative designs of sustainable coastal structures and nature-based measures for coastal projects.  Coastal modelling uses simulation software to assess hydrodynamic and meteorological impacts at marine sites.  Ayesa uses the MIKE21 suite and has worked extensively with these models to investigate sediment transportation, wave penetration, oil spill and dredge plume dispersion, and predicting hydrodynamic forces which may act on marine structures.

Our engineering teams use modelling to accurately predict the impact of climate change and the interaction of marine facilities and structures within the natural environment.  Our teams report on the sediment transport processes and morphological evolution of coastlines.  They predict hydrodynamic forces that impact marine structures, model wave penetration inside harbours and vessel motions studies to support safe berthing and guide ship manoeuvring.

Our modelling expertise supports environmental assessments, which typically could include inputs from water quality studies, recirculation studies for brine and cooling water discharges, the behavioural action of oil spills, and the dispersion of sediment resulting from dredging and disposal.  Our modelling reports create quantitative results that can help optimise design and planning, manage environmental impacts, and embed resilience into structures and processes.

Our Modelling includes:

  • Wave modelling (wave refraction and agitation)
  • Sediment transport modelling (1D and 2D)
  • Hydrodynamics modelling (tsunamis, tropical cyclones and tidal currents)
  • Water quality modelling (oil spills, brine discharges and dredge plumes)
