Irish Water is making a significant investment in the Vartry Water Supply Scheme to ensure a safe and sustainable water supply for the north Wicklow and south Dublin areas. This investment will ensure that the drinking water provided complies with water quality standards set out in the European Union Drinking Water Directive and the current National Drinking Water Regulations. The new pipeline will replace a 150-year-old tunnel and will ensure drinking water supply for over 200,000 people. ByrneLooby has been appointed by Roadbridge Ltd to design the 4km pipeline to secure the transfer of treated water from Vartry Reservoir to Callowhill.
Our role involves the detailed design of the pipeline route, pipework layouts and associated structures. This design includes the preparation of a detailed hydraulic model and production of a surge analysis report. We are designing all buildings required to house mechanical and electrical equipment including the Vartry high lift pumping station, electrical distribution building and the energy recovery building.
