Tropical Fruit Warehouse

TropicalFruitWarehouse01

Tropical Fruit Warehouse is an original warehouse along Sir John Rogerson’s Quay which was used to store imported tropical fruit during the 1890s. The proposed development involves the construction of over 80,000 ft² of office space centred around the restored warehouse. The design for the warehouse involves two floating floors which cantilever over the warehouse building. The new office building to the rear of the warehouse is six storeys high and will include a partial single, partial double-storey basement. Construction is well underway and is due for completion in Spring 2021.

Our Role

Ayesa, initially engaged by the consulting engineers specified, supervised and managed the ground investigation for the Tropical Fruit Warehouse project. The ground investigation consisted of two phases of investigation across the site. Following on from this Ayesa prepared the interpretative report and carried out the detailed design of the secant piles for the new basement, temporary anchor support and foundation piles for the new building and foundation piles for the renovated warehouse on behalf of the piling contractors.

In addition, Ayesa, engaged by the main contractor, PJ Hegarty & Sons, carried out the design of the temporary piling platforms and the design of some temporary steel support.
