Tallest Flag Pole In The World

ByrneLooby completed the foundation design for the world record breaking 171m Flagpole at King Abdullah Square in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The flagpole is located in a seismic zone and this, coupled with the sheer scale of the project, resulted in a challenging foundation design. ByrneLooby supervised the site investigation and subsequently completed the design of the foundation piles and flagpole base. We also provide site supervisors to oversee the construction phase.

The flagpole was erected in 2014 by the Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiative and the Al-Babtain Power & Telecom company. A Saudi Arabian flag measuring 49.5 metres by 33 metres was raised for the first time on the 23rd September 2014, the National Day of Saudi Arabia.
