St. Bartholomew’s Hospital PPU

St Bartholomew's Hospital is an internationally renowned teaching hospital in the City of London. It is also the oldest hospital in Britain, and still occupies the site it was originally was built on where it has provided healthcare since 1123.

In 2005 the Trust embarked upon an extensive redevelopment programme using PFI funding to redevelop its estate. At the Barts site, the 20th Century buildings in the South East of the estate were replaced with the new hospital development, providing consolidated and modern clinical facilities. The first phase was opened in May 2010 and completed in 2016.

The Trust recognised strategic advantages for the establishment of a Private Patient Unit on the Barts site. This was achieved through consolidating the new clinical facilities with the existing range of specialist services, together with the prestige and reputation for excellence associated with St Barts.
