Royal Mint Gardens

Royal Mint Gardens

Royal Mint Gardens is a 15 storey development providing some 350 apartments and a 230-bed hotel, together with retail and leisure facilities. The site sits over the Dockland Light Railway and cantilevers over a Network Rail viaduct. The project comprises three elements: encapsulation of the existing DLR tracks, Phase 1 comprising of 3 residential towers of up to 15 storeys and Phase 2 comprising the hotel and mixed-use facilities.

Our Role

ByrneLooby has been involved in all three phases, undertaking temporary works design and railway approvals for the encapsulation works, Category 3 checking of the structural design for Phase 1 and the CEM role on Phase 2. We have also undertaken condition surveys and movement monitoring of the existing viaduct. The project has required careful coordination both with Network Rail and the DLR to ensure that the designs do not adversely impact the operations or safety of the railways. This has required a high degree of planning of all construction operations and our contribution has been critical in obtaining the necessary approvals.
