Bankside Yards is the redevelopment of a 5.3-acre site immediately south of Blackfriars Bridge. It comprises 489 apartments and 288,000 sq. ft of offices, as well as retail, leisure and cultural facilities. When complete, the project will comprise 5 residential buildings and 4 office buildings rising from 13 to 49 storeys. The site sits either side of the railway viaduct with deep basements and links beneath the viaduct.
The scheme requires careful integration with the Network Rail assets. ByrneLooby in Guildford were appointed by the developer, Native Land, to manage the railway approval processes, both for the demolitions of Sampson House and Ludgate House and for the new development. The role also included monitoring of the railway assets and undertaking the relevant independent design checking.
