ByrneLooby was appointed by Mohamed Salahuddin Consulting Engineering Bureau (MSCEB) to undertake the design of six artificial beaches and the associated beach control structures at the Al Sahel Beach Resort in the south west area of Bahrain. The ultimate Client, Al Sahel Resort Company B.S.C, intends to redevelop a partially constructed project which was stalled in 2009. The redevelopment will include a 5* beach focused luxury hotel, beach club, sports centre, restaurants and permanent villas.
The design included a period of data collection and analysis followed by hydrodynamic modelling. The design of the control structures ensured minimal impact aesthetically whilst complying with best international design standards. ByrneLooby prepared a beach stability and coastal evolution assessment to determine the construction profile and eventual stable profile and orientation of the artificial beaches. We also undertook the environmental permitting requirements which included the development of an environmental management plan.
