The Lidl Newbridge Distribution Centre
The Lidl Newbridge Distribution Centre (DC) is a new 54,000m2 distribution centre constructed on the outskirts of Newbridge, Co. Kildare. The new Distribution Centre will serve Lidl’s network of stores in the Leinster area and create 100 full time jobs for the area. During the site ground investigations, variable soft cohesive and loose granular materials were encountered within the initial 3m to 4m below ground level A ground improvement scheme was proposed at the site to reduce foundation costs over traditional piled/ bulk dig and replace solutions.
Our Dublin Geotechnical Engineering team's involvement in the Lidl Newbridge Distribution Centre project included appraising, analysing and presenting the initial ground improvement options. ByrneLooby prepared the performance specification, reviewed the contractor design and build proposals, tendered returns, completed ground improvement works and finally produced compliance reports. This resulted in the selection of the most suitable solution, a soil stabilisation solution of lime and cement as proposed and developed by the design and build contractor. ByrneLooby ensured that the construction works were carried out to the performance specifications and requirements. Reviewing in situ site visits and reviewing of laboratory testing were all undertaken to achieve this. Following the completion of works, a detailed review of the design and build contractors compliance reports were completed.
