Meet Rahma Aleskafi - Our Graduate Environmental Consultant

Meet Rahma Aleskafi - Our Graduate Environmental Consultant

As custodians of the built environment, our attention has been firmly fixed on the discussions of politicians and world leaders at #COP27. However, the participation of a much younger generation is vital to this world-changing climate discussion, and this year, young representatives from all around the world have had their opinions included in the UNGCCC procedures.

The Global Conference of Youth (COY), responsible for empowering the voice of these representatives, is one of the most significant conferences related to the UN's multilateral climate processes. It brings together youth advocates of climate change and ensures that all youth communities have an equal chance to be heard and represented.

The 17th COY (#COY17) occurred just days before the 27th UN Climate Change Conference #COP27, in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, and included diversity networking sessions and workshops as well as the creation of a policy document that synthesises the concerns and ideas of the young people in #COP27.

One of our Graduate Environmental Consultants, Rahma Aleskafi, ByrneLooby, Ayesa had the opportunity to join the ground-breaking climate Global Conference of Youth (#COY17). She was one of the hundreds of delegates from over 140 countries who gathered in Sharm-El-Sheikh, Egypt, to shape intergovernmental approaches to climate change.

"I am very grateful for having had the chance to take part in COY17, the 17th United Nations Conference of Youth on climate change held in Sharm El-Sheikh – in November 2022 as a delegate from Bahrain.

Besides skills-building workshops and talks, I was pleased to connect with many smart and enthusiastic young people working together to fight the climate crisis. Many passionate, keen, and inspiring young people came from around the world ready to bind and engage for a better and more liveable earth."

We want to thank Rahma for sharing part of her experience at the Conference with us. Congratulations on her initiative and work to tackle climate change.

Seeing how our team responds to the climate emergency gives us the certainty that ByrneLooby's vision for corporate social responsibility is in the right direction and that we are making positive impacts across our pillars of People and the Planet.
