Biography

As Director of our Belfast office, Danny applies over 35 years’ experience as a chartered civil engineer and chartered environmentalist to continually grow this business unit and to ensure it maintains its excellent standards. With a Certificate in Law, Danny leads on environmental and sustainability issues for the Ayesa Group.

Geotechnical design is Danny’s area of expertise, and he is particularly interested in value engineering for large civil infrastructure projects, such as the M8 in Glasgow, and in renewable energy projects, as seen in his work on wind farms in Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Danny has worked as Earthworks Designer & Manager on major roads projects and, as a Geotechnical Specialist, has been involved in all types of onshore and offshore marine site investigations for gravity and pile structures, using state-of-the-art investigative techniques.

He has specialist knowledge and experience in ground stability and landslide problems, and has advised Government on erosion problems at heritage sites in Antrim such as Dunluce Castle, Kinbane Castle and the Gobbins Coastal Path. The technical papers he has written relating to geotechnical design issues include work on slope stability in areas of relic landslip.

Danny has been a part-time lecturer for the School of Built & Natural Environment at Queen’s University Belfast, and was previously: Chair of the Northern Ireland Geotechnical Group; a reviewer for the Northern Ireland Gateway Review process; a member of the Sustainable Drainage Systems Working Party; a Senior CEEQUAL Assessor/Verifier (BRE); and Project Manager for Remediation for Maze Long Kesh.

I enjoy helping my team develop integrated design solutions and value engineering on large civil infrastructure projects that impact the community.
