John is a Chartered Engineer with over 15 years experience in geotechnical and civil engineering in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and New Zealand. His experience includes foundation design, ground improvement, slope stability, deep basements, seismic analysis, dewatering analysis, and earthworks. From his experience across the Middle East, he has gained a strong appreciation of the diverse geotechnical challenges in the region, and the importance of local knowledge of ground conditions, and incorporating this into design solutions.

John’s recent project experience includes the STEP Link Sewers in Abu Dhabi, where he led the geotechnical investigations/interpretation and temporary works design for over 40km of sewer tunnels, with almost 300 temporary shafts. He has also managed the ground investigations and reporting for the 500km Sirt-Benghazi Railway in Libya, due diligence review of temporary works and foundations design for the Abu Dhabi Plaza Development in Astana, and a number of major retaining wall and slope stabilisation projects in a highly-seismic region of New Zealand. He has a strong interest in early geotechnical involvement in projects, and the benefits that this can bring in terms of risk management and time/cost savings to clients and other stakeholders.
