Byrne Looby Partners acquires PH McCarthy Consulting Engineers

Byrne Looby Partners has formally completed the acquisition of PH McCarthy Consulting Engineers, one of Ireland's leading water and infrastructure engineering specialists.

This strategic acquisition extends Byrne Looby Partners’ footprint, and further enhances its capabilities and expertise.   

PH McCarthy Consulting Engineers, established in 1899, is a respected engineering practice, responsible for the delivery of a highly effective and diverse range of projects in the water, transport and health areas. It has pioneered highly specialised water and wastewater development programmes in towns and counties across the country.

The acquisition remains consistent with Byrne Looby Partners’ strategic growth policy to target expansions which add new geographies, customers, talent and engineering capabilities to its national and international offering. It further underlines the company's commitment to the Irish market, with a particular emphasis on and expanding its strategic water capabilities.  

The acquisition positions Byrne Looby Partners-PH McCarthy Consulting Engineers as a leading player in the growing area of water infrastructure engineering services.

The new combined entity, comprising 150 engineers, oversees more than 50 local authority water services projects, with an estimated value of more than €400 million.
