Our Role
Our team of Conservation experts at Ayesa London were appointed as part of the design team. While the building was constructed to be identical to the original front, the re-construction mostly consisted of a completely new framed building with only the façades retained. The structure is a reinforced concrete ground and first floors with steel portal frames above giving a sense of light and space. The building structure has been designed in close co-ordination with the Environmental Engineer to maximise the energy efficiency of the building with the exposed concrete frame acting as a heat sink to moderate the internal temperature of the library.
