Olympic Velodrome

We were the foundation designer for the piles of the iconic London 2012 Olympic Velodrome.

The Olympic Velodrome is constructed on the site of the former West Ham tip and these challenging ground conditions required the provision of a complex scheme of over 900 piles extending to depths of up to 26m.

Our design consisted of 450mm and 600mm CFA and 275mm precast driven piles. The design which was to Eurocodes standards allowed for the expansion and contraction of the continuous base slab and as such featured a high imposed lateral movement to the top of the piles.
