Home - UK Projects New Doha Port New Doha Port A TENDER DESIGN REPORT WAS REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT ByrneLooby was engaged by Leighton Contracting (Qatar) W.l.l. to provide design support for their tender for the new Doha Port, Qatar. This project involved the design and construction of a new Port development for Doha, to replace the current port in the heart of the city, on a site approximately 20km to the south of Doha. The area of the proposed new Port is of the order of 20km2 with the typical depth of bed of the order of 18m below mean sea level. The scope of the ByrneLooby commission was to produce a tender design report covering the following key issues for the project: Preliminary assessment of the ground conditions and soil/rock permeability; Review of available pump test data; Assessment of temporary excavation slope stability; Assessment of dewatering strategies for the construction works; Review and comment on dewatering sub-contractor proposals; Assessment of potential dewatering well yields; Identification and quantification of outstanding construction risks; Contingency design / planning.
