Meath Energy from Waste Facility

ByrneLooby provided the specialist pile design for the waste bunker of Ireland’s first energy from waste facility.

The £130m facility is designed to handle over 200,000 tonnes of waste each year and generate 17MW of electricity.

The waste bunker for the facility extends 5m below ground and we value engineered our design for the foundation and retaining walls to ensure efficiency and buildability for our clients. As the construction of the main building began, we were further engaged to provide a number of temporary works designs for a number of features of the building.  

Scope of project:

  • Pile design for the waste bunker and temporary works designs for the main building of Ireland’s first energy from waste facility.
  • Value engineered solution of the foundation and retaining walls of the waste bunker to enhance buildability and efficiency savings.
