East Sitra

DREDGING IS REQUIRED IN THIS BORROW AREA AND RECLAMATION WORKS IN PLOT 2

National Marine Dredging Company (NMDC) are currently reclaiming land for both the East Sitra Housing Project (ESHP) and the NOGA (National Oil and Gas Authority) Terminal Reclamation, both of which are Government Approved projects. Currently, there is a requirement for additional fill material to be obtained from nearby sources and following an extensive search for potential borrow areas, NMDC are proposing to utilise a borrow area located to the south of the proposed ‘Plot 2’ reclamation in Sitra.

In order to gain authorisation to dredge in this Borrow Area and to commence reclamation works in Plot 2, approval from the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) is required. ByrneLooby has therefore been appointed to assist NMDC in obtaining these permits through the preparation of an Environmental Management Plan for the dredging works in the Borrow Area and a Construction Management Plan for reclamation works in Plot 2.
